On average, Canada disposes $31 billion worth of food annually. As stated by a CBC article, this is equivalent to "tossing a quarter of your groceries away when you leave the supermarket".
Food Scoop has partnered with several local businesses within beautiful and vibrant Fredericton. All items that are not consumed or sold through the course of a few days would be sold by the business at a reduced price, feeding more people and reducing disposal of foods.
Every day, to maintain fresh supplies, businesses are forced to dispose foods that are not consumed or sold. Armed with this knowledge, Food Scoop was launched. The aim of this initiative is to help reduce the amount of food being sent to the landfills by the city of Fredericton, New Brunswick.
